Native American Carved Buffalo Dance Stick: Buffalo Dreaming

Mnicoujou Lakota artist Jim Little Wounded carves the image of a buffalo from wood. He stains the entire stick and then paints his designs with acrylic.

Jim encircles the eyes with glass beads, adds real buffalo hair for the beard, and hangs a leather dangle that features imitation eagle feathers, glass beads and a metal bell.

He finishes the decoration of the piece with a beaded buffalo amulet made from rawhide, glass beads and buffalo fur. The piece is signed by the artist.
