Description

Description

Created by non-Native American artist Dan Chapman, this axe exhibits trademark Native American inspired craft - from a stylized bear claw insignia, cut from the hand-forged head to the leather wrapped wooden handle.

Fringes, Italian glass beads, red trade cloth, and feather fluffs finish this tribal weapon. According to legend, bears were honored as a powerful spirit. They were specially noted for their bravery and fighting strength, and therefore many American Indian weapons brandish the bear as a warrior symbol. It was believed that when a Native American warrior displayed the image of a bear on his shield he received the bear's attributes in battle.

Recent purchases and store and employees

We Drive approximately 9 hours to visit Custer area for a vacation. This store and its products are always not just a stop but part of a destination for our trips. Employees always go above and beyond to visit and help with our needs. The axe is part of our "Dan Chapman" collection. Can not say enough good things about the store and all of the employees.
