Description

Patty Eckman (Non-Native American) sculpts in paper using a process called paper casting. This involves pressing paper into a hand-made rubber mould to get a basic shape and continuing to transform that shape, sparing no detail, to create this beautiful buffalo head and other extremely life-like figures.

The bison is revered in the Plains Indian culture as a provider of food, shelter, and clothing. Patty Eckman has recreated the majestic animal in paper and mounted it in a protective acrylic casing. The soft texture of the animal’s fur is achieved through a technique that involves scraping the fibrous handmade paper with a razor blade; its fine detail is overwhelming.

Paper Sculpture Buffalo Head

I love it. It can be hung on the wall or displayed on a surface. The workmanship is outstanding and the service I received from Prairie Edge was great.
