Original Ledger Art: Takes the Lead

"Takes the Lead," is an original colored pencil and ink drawing by Lakota ledger artist, Donald F. Montileaux. The image of the Native American warrior on horseback is rendered on a sheet of paper taken from a county tax ledger book from the year 1920. Still visible behind the drawing are the original handwritten entries. The artwork is custom framed with conservation materials.
