Description

Native American artist Travis Tremblay, Listuguj Mi’kmaq Canada, creates a perfect replica of a short Buffalo fur headdress with split buffalo horns, the horns of the buffalo denoted special inner spiritual strength.

Travis used a piece of commercially tanned buffalo hide with hair on. He shapes the headdress and then attaches a quillwork decorated headband and two split buffalo horns (unpolished). The horns are anchored, at the top, to the headdress and adorned with metal bells and dyed red horse hair. Travis has added small decorative details on this piece.
