The drum was constructed by non-Native American drum maker Wayne Manthey.

The artwork, decorated drum beater and other decorations are by Lakota Nation member Jim Little Wounded. Jim paints the exciting image of two friends who are living life, hunting together and warring together. One painted image depicts the rider carrying a bear shield and wearing a bear robe, the friend is carrying a buffalo shield and has buffalo horns adorning his headdress.

Jim signed his artwork.
