Size 11 Venetian sky blue glass bead with an opaque finish.

"Sky Blue" seems a misnomer for this bead-the color is a medium - toned slate blue. This was a color much used by the Yankton Sioux people. They lived along the Missouri River in South Dakota (where they still maintain a reservation) and some of them were squeezed upriver and into Montana during the course of intertribal warfare and conflicts with the U.S.Army during the1800's. Their beading style evolved in their travels north and west along the great river. This is a true Italian size 4/0, which falls between a Czech 11/0-12/0. The shape is rounded and slightly lenticular.
