Native American Art Show: Red Cloud Indian School
Traditional art forms are experiencing a rebirth - they are alive, they are thriving, and the annual juried art show at the Red Cloud Indian School is a testament to this rejuvenation.
Now in their 44th year, the show's exciting mix of contemporary and traditional Native American art features local Indian artists, as well as those from across the United States and Canada.
Included in the gallery exhibit will be the work of over 50 artists ranging in experience from emerging to established; and varying in artistic expression from traditional beadwork, quillwork, and textiles to the more contemporary painting, mixed media, graphics, and digital photography.
More than 10,000 visitors (from all over the world) are expected to attend this year…and we are excited to say we will be one of them!
We always look forward to the Red Cloud Show - it's the perfect chance to appreciate the artwork for its visual beauty, admire the artist's revitalization of time-honored traditions, make a connection with the next generation of American Indian artists…and usually end up with at least a few new pieces.
The show runs from June 5 to August 14, 2011. It will be held at the The Heritage Center on the campus of the Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge, SD.
