The Indians of the Plains and Plateau areas, men, women and children alike, wore this very basic, hardsole type moccasin which was developed out of necessity as protection from the hard and sometimes rocky ground of the prairie that was their home.
I am weaving on a pin loom to make fabric squares to hand sew into the Plains Style Moccasins pattern to keep my feet warm during winter. Then I will use this pattern to hand sew from woven fabric for summer wear moccasins while I work from home woodcarving spoons.
