Kevin D. Fast Horse, Sr.

Kevin D. Fast Horse Sr. was born to Douglas A. Fast Horse and Carol L. Morrison in Rapid City SD on June 18, 1963. He later lived with his grandmother Elizabeth Fast Horse. Kevin continues to reside in Rapid City with his wife Mary Louise Pourier-Fast Horse and their three boys. Kevin is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota of the Pine Ridge Indian reservation located in South Dakota.
Kevin began beading when he was 5 years old, his family taught him the basics and this helped launch his long career as a beadwork master. His beginnings included scatter beading and lane stitch on small bags. Later he added belt buckles and hatbands to his growing list of talents. Today he creates magnificent geometric patterns and animal or paw images on leather, hides and even framed pieces. His skill captures the naturalistic beauty of animals significant to the Lakota culture.
