Jim Little Wounded

Nathan James “Jim” Little Wounded was born September 5, 1955 to Nathan Little Wounded and Flora White Feather. Jim is a member of the Mnicojou Band of the Lakota Nation who’s reservation is the Cheyenne River Sioux reservation of South Dakota.
Jim attended elementary school in Dupree, SD and also attended high school there except for his junior year when he attended Westfield High School, Westfield Massachusetts. He has also taken college courses in medical record keeping.
Jim was taught his skills by his grandmother who would make a game of beading and entice young Jim to work with his older generation. In his work he uses many of the traditional methods of beadwork, quillwork and painting on leather. Jim also creates beautiful musical instruments in his flutes and drums. He has received many national awards for his traditional art, including the Smithsonian Art Institute and the Santa Fe Indian Art Market.
He lives and works in Rapid City, SD.
