Widely admired for protecting his people and speaking the truth, he is honored with this design, symbolizing bravery. Bold arrowheads represent the chief's courage, strength and integrity. Chief Joseph commemorates one of the Northwest’s greatest Nez Perce warriors. The arrowhead pattern symbolizes his courage and endurance as he led his tribe away from the US Cavalry, traveling more than 1,400 miles in severe conditions for three months. In honor of his bravery, Pendleton donates a portion of the sales from all Chief Joseph products to nonprofit organizations that facilitate medical careers for Native students, and the preservation of Native languages.
