Description

Mnicoujou Lakota artist, Aryanna “Fred” Little Wounded, learned from her grandfather Jim Little Wounded, how to create historical pieces including large effigy “Hand” rattles. The hand rattle is painted with the scene of running buffalo that represents a good hunt.

Fred creates the rattle with deer rawhide, painted with acrylic paint, attached to a wooden handle that is covered with glass beads. She beads the tip of each finger with glass beads and adds feather dangles with metal cones and glass beads.
