Local Mnicoujou Lakota Nation member Jim Little Wounded, hand makes and hand paints this incredible historical style carrying case made to keep a short flair headdress inside.

The case is made from elk rawhide and painted with acrylic paint. He ties together the ends and adds long leather fringe, the fringe hangs 15 inches long. Both ends can be opened, the headdress can be removed or inserted from either end.

The short flair headdress features imitation eagle feathers and fluffs attached to a felt cap. The band is beaded with glass beads and he finishes the piece with bead and wool cloth wrapped ermines.
