Description

Mnicoujou Lakota artist, Aryanna “Fred” Little Wounded, learned from her grandfather Jim Little Wounded, how to create historical pieces including large effigy “Hand” rattles.

She cuts the rawhide into the shape of a hand, sews the edges and puts small stones or beads into the rattle. Fred paints the hand with acrylic paint, adds a decorated wooden handle, uses dyed porcupine quills for the “nails” , and finishes the piece with wild turkey body feathers.

Measures:
Length 20 | Width 5 1/2 | Deep 2 1/2 inches
Length is measured from the tip of the feathers to the bottom of the leather hanger.
All measurements are approximate.
