Here comes Auntie Julie at the turkey trot.  I run with my cousins, but Auntie leads the way.  We live in gratitude every single day.  Aunts by kinship as well as family friends, neighbors, and community members all step up to fill the important role of “auntie”.  They are there for life’s joys, sorrows, and celebrations, bringing their own special love.  Through warm prose and exuberant artwork, author Cynthia Leitich Smith (Muscogee) and illustrator Aphelandra (Oneida) have created a wonderful book for honoring the blessings of every auntie in a child’s life.
