Open House on Small Business Saturday: 2018

We are getting closer to our annual Open House on Saturday, November 24th from 11am - 3pm. Held every year during Thanksgiving weekend we are also celebrating Small Business Saturday.

This year’s Open House event will feature;

Bill Matson and The Clown Family: The Clown family are members of Crazy Horse’s family. They’ve written extensively about the man and his life. They will be in-house to speak about the book “Crazy Horse - The Lakota Warrior's Life and Legacy” from 11am - 3pm. Join us for a lively conversation and here is your opportunity to ask questions about this legendary leader.

The Ravenshead FamilyProud father, Chris Ravenshead is joined by his twin daughters Caroline and Emilie and his other daughter Brenna. This family is fabulous with beadwork and quillwork. Stop down and view their latest offerings and feel free to ask questions about techniques. They will be in-house from 11am - 3pm.

Kevin Fast Horse, Sr.: Kevin is a local Oglala/Lakota artist. He is an award winning bead artist and has made many wonderful pieces of beadwork art from very small bags to large beaded buffalo robes. Kevin loves to visit and when he’s not creating beadwork he is following his favorite football or baseball team. Kevin will be here from 11am - 3pm.

Del Iron Cloud: Del is a local Lakota fine art artist who has traveled the world and learned a great deal about life. His paintings are reflective of his culture and worldly experience. Del is another artist who loves to visit and he can pretty much talk about any subject. Del will be here from 11am - 3pm.

Ursula LaCroix: Local Lakota beadwork artist, Ursula LaCroix creates all things beaded. She has created one-of-a-kind graduation caps, cowboy style belts (you provide the buckle, she’ll bead the leather), hatbands, moccasins and jewelry. Her skills with glass beads create functional pieces that are beautiful. Ursula will be here from 11am - 3pm.

Gravity Jewelry: Local jewelry artisan, Kristi Schuft will be previewing her holiday selection of hand made jewelry. Born and raised in South Dakota, Kristi’s jewelry reflects the love of South Dakota’s natural beauty. Each piece is a one of kind treasure. Kristi will be here from 11am - 3pm.

During our Open House, we will begin our registration for one of two $500.00 gift cards that will be given away on December 23rd, 2018. Registration can only be done in-house. Some lucky winner will have their name drawn and then contacted on December 23rd. You can register (in-house only) before December 23rd. Register often and you might win both $500.00 cards!

We will be serving refreshments and previewing our holiday gift ideas (our buyers have been busy) during our Open House.

Prairie Edge and the Sioux Trading Post will be closing at 6pm for the Festival of Lights Parade. Enjoy the day folks and then stay for the Parade! Make sure you bring a chair and warm blankets, there will be vendors during the parade selling hot drinks.

See you soon and Happy Holidays!
