Native American artist Mike McLeod (Bad River Band Chippewa) creates the classic bone breastplate. Over the centuries, animal bones have been used to create accouterment that showed the status of the wearer. It’s not meant to protect you physically.
Mike uses shaped bones that are strung together between strips of leather. He adds metal beads and blue glass beads to each strung bone. He finishes the ends of the strung bone with metal bells, it gives the breastplate a soft jingle sound.
Mike finishes the decoration of the breastplate with silver metal conchos.
