Native American Hand Painted Shield: Night Storm
Native American artist Mike McLeod, Bad River Band Chippewa, hand paints the image of a Night Storm. The elements play an important role in the lives of the Plains Indians.
Mike uses commercially tanned deer leather for the soft leather cover. He stretches the leather over a willow hoop and then secures the cover with a long leather thong.
Mike completes the decoration of this shield with feather clusters that also feature glass beads and metal bells. The piece is signed by the artist.
