This is a very special piece of Native American art. The artist, Bill Mendoza (Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota) has brought to us a piece that represents the past in the best way possible.
Hand carved from wood, Bill has also carved the wooden rings and balls from the same piece of wood. He covers a portion of the tamper with moose hair quillwork and then covers the end of the tamper with porcupine quill work. Quilling pre-dates beadwork and can only be done by hand.
This would make an awesome addition to any Native American artwork collection.
