Native American hand Carved Pipe Tamper: The Lakota Totem Pole
Jim Little Wounded wanted to create his version of the Lakota Totem Pole, he had carves the images of Buffalo, Elk, Turtle and Ram. He adds a dyed porcupine quilled slat to the side, the slat also features glass beads, tin cones and dyed horse hair.
Jim carved the entire tamper from wood, he said “The images were so small and needed to be carved carefully, so I would work on it for awhile and then set it aside for awhile, it’s finally done.”
