Native American Hand Carved Horse Dance Stick: Buffalo Hunt
Native American artist Jim Little Wounded, Minneconjou Lakota, hand carves the image of a horse from wood, the imagery is in reference to a Buffalo Hunt and this was the riders favorite hunting horse.
Jim stains and paints the entire stick with stain and acrylic paint. He decorates the eyes with glass beads and makes the ears from rawhide. Jim uses real horse hair for the forelock, mane and tail.
He finalizes the decoration with a beaded buffalo amulet and two imitation eagle feathers.
The piece is signed by the artist.
