Native American Hand Beaded Red & Yellow Cradleboard: The Turtle
Native American artist Kevin Fast Horse Sr., (Oglala Lakota) hand beads this beautiful piece with hand cut glass Italian beads. Kevin uses the same beads his ancestors first traded for, each bead used is a remembrance of those who came before him.
Kevin chooses the Turtle, it is an important symbol to the Plains Indians and many other cultures around the world. He uses red one one side of the beadwork and yellow on the other to create a different piece of art depending on which side you are viewing. Kevin attaches his beadwork to commercially tanned elk leather.
Kevin further adorns this cradleboard with small metal bells, large glass bead dangles with metal bells and a beaded turtle amulet. The backboard is made from wood that has been stained and decorated with metal spots.
The piece is signed by the artist.
Length 51 | Width 10 | Deep 10 inches.
