Native American Hand Beaded Medicine Bag: Butterfly on Red

Kevin Fast Horse Sr., Oglala Lakota Nation member, shows off his master skill beadwork technique, he creates this butterfly using hand cut glass Italian beads.

He attaches his beadwork onto commercially tanned deer leather. He adds a long leather thong, the bag can be cinched close, adds loop stitching to the top and signs the piece. The actual useable area of the bag measures 13 inches tall by 5 inches wide.
