Ramey Growing Thunder (Dakota Sioux, Ft. Peck, MT), has been beading for many years. Even though she is a very young woman, she has made her mark on the Native American art world by winning awards at prestigious art markets like SWAIA. Her work can be described as neat and tidy, this small cylinder bag is a prime example of her work.
Ramey uses small cut beads, the cut makes the beads appear to be shinier. She creates her beautiful floral design on red wool cloth and then attaches this to the body of her bag. She adds more beadwork to the edge, flap closure and edge of the handle.
Ramey finishes the decoration of this bag with metal bells, smoked tanned leather fringe and a metal button to help secure the bag closed.
