Native American Fully Beaded Cradleboard: Horses and Shields
Native American artist Brenda DuBray, Oglala Lakota of Pine Ridge South Dakota, hand beads this incredible piece of art. She achieves her designs with glass beads which she meticulously attaches by hand.
Brenda uses commercially tanned deer leather, metal cones and metal spots. Brenda attached a tiny pair of moccasins to the front of the cradleboard and a single turtle amulet to the board. There are long leather ties that would have helped to secure the baby in the cradleboard.
The piece is signed by the artist.
