Jim Little Wounded, Minneconjou Lakota, pays tribute to the buffalo with this carved dance stick that features a glass beaded buffalo amulet.

Jim carves the image of a buffalo from wood, he stains and paints the wood with symbols that are important to his Lakota heritage. He adds glass beads for the eyes and uses badger claws for the horns. Jim hangs a single imitation eagle feather from the leg with a leather dangle that features glass beads.

Jim finishes the decorations with a glass beaded buffalo fur amulet, buffalo hair beard and a spray of wild turkey feathers on his head.

The piece is signed by the artist.
