Early explorers recorded seeing such circles of buffalo skulls; similar circles have been discovered at recent archaeological digs at ancient buffalo kill sites...but this was no mere hunter's superstition.
Long ago, buffalo bones were once gathered up and the skulls were placed in a circle.
"Friends," the hunters would say, "We must honor these bones. They are the bones of those who gave their flesh to keep us alive last winter."
