Hand Painted Pedestal Drum: Elk Dreamers

This particular pedestal drum is hand painted by Miniconjou Lakota artist Jim Little Wounded. He uses a combination of free-hand techniques to paint the intricate elk dreamers design. Jim also decorates the drum with beadwork, sleigh bells, tin cones, imitation elk teeth, and leather fringe. He even hand crafts a drumstick to accompany the drum. The drum body is made by non-Native American Taos Drum Co.
