Hand Painted Pedestal Drum: Bear Dancers

This particular pedestal drum is hand painted by Miniconjou Lakota artist Jim Little Wounded. He uses a combination of free-hand techniques to paint the intricate "bear dancers" design. Jim also decorates the drum with sleigh bells, imitation hawk feathers, and leather fringe.  He even hand crafts the drum stick.  The drum body is made by non-Native American Taos Drum Co.
