Sweet Leaf is also known as Wild Bergamot or Horse Mint.

Locally known by the Lakota Nationas Hehaka Tapejuta (Elk's Medicine) or Wahpe Wastemna (Sweet Smelling Leaves).
The dried leaves and purple flowers have a very strong scent and were used to pack with clothing as a sachet. A tea brewed from the leaves was allegedly effective for some coughs and for fainting.
An Elk Dreamer used this plant for "Love" medicine as well.
