Native American Painted and Beaded Hand Rattle w. Stars

Jim uses commercially processed deer rawhide, he cuts the rawhide into the shape of a hand. He sews the edges together and then fills the hand shape with sand while drying. Once the rawhide is dry he empties the rattle of sand, adds beads and small rocks (for the rattle sound) and then sews it shut.

Jim finishes the hand rattle with acrylic paint, glass beads, tin cones and feathers. Jim adds a wooden handle that is wrapped with leather and more glass beads.

The piece is signed by the artist.
