With the possible exception of the Battle of Gettysburg, the Battle of the Little Big Horn may be the most written about fight in American history. Even though it has been covered so extensively, it still might be our most misinterpreted, misconstrued conflict.

After almost limitless verbiage expended on the matter, how can we justify another book on the subject? In plain fact, we still have not adequately explained what ought to be the first priority in writing the history of the battle: what happened?
