The “Large Wrapped Feather,” by Patty Eckman, is a limited edition cast paper sculpture which depicts an exquisitely detailed feather with a wrapped quill, ready to be attached to a headdress.
In Plains Indian culture, the eagle feather carries special significance, and it was given as a reward to young warriors that proved successful in enemy horse raids and coups. The most accomplished men would earn many feathers and would fashion their collection into elaborate headdresses.
All measurements are approximate.
