This particular piece is hand made by Miniconjou Lakota artist Jim Little Wounded. He uses elk rawhide in the construction of the parfleche case. Jim decorates I with leather fringe, red trade cloth, and a combination of free-hand painting techniques with acrylic paints to create a dual sided design.
