Hand Painted 13 Inch Hand Drum: Elk Dreamer

This hand drum is painted by Miniconjou Lakota artist Jim Little Wounded.  He uses  a combination of free hand painting techniques with acrylic paints, beadwork, quillwork, imitation elk teeth, and leather fringe to create his elaborate “Elk Dreamer” design. Jim also hand crafts a drum beater to accompany the drum utilizing leather, acrylic paints, and thoughtful beadwork.

The drum body was made by non-Native American Wayne Manthey.
