Hand Painted 16 Inch Hand Drum: Buffalo Head

This 16 inch hand drum is hand painted by Miniconjou Lakota artist Jim Little Wounded.  He uses a combination of free-hand painting techniques with acrylic paints to create the “Buffalo Head” design.  Jim also decorates the drum with a hand carved buffalo head, sleigh bells, and imitation feathers. He also hand crafts a drum beater to accompany the drum utilizing leather, acrylic paints, and thoughtful beadwork.

The drum body is made by non-Native American Wayne Manthey.
