Local Lakota artist Aryanna “Fred” Little Wounded, Cheyenne River Sioux Nation, hand makes this small rattle using rawhide attached to a decorated wooden handle.
She creates the eyes of the rattle with dyed porcupine quills, paints the rawhide with acrylic paint and adds horse hair for the mane and forelock. To finish the decoration of this piece, Aryanna adds imitation eagle feathers, glass beads and metal cones.
