Native American Hand Painted Tipi Wrap: Mato Spirit
The spirit of the bear wraps it's arms and legs around this lodge, offering protection and guidance to the occupants. This hand painted mini tipi cover is a factual re-creation of a tipi wrap.
Jim uses commercially tanned deer hides, he paints the images with acrylic paints. Each hole is used for securing the wrap onto the tipi poles. Jim finishes the decoration of the hide with long leather ties, brass bells, glass beads and a cluster of domestic turkey feathers that are dyed brown and barbed wild turkey feathers. The piece is signed by the artist.
