Native American artist Mike McLeod hand paints a scene from the Battle of the Little Big Horn. George Armstrong Custer was convinced he had the superior force to defeat the Plains Indians, he couldn't have been more wrong. Locked in the endless struggle to defend or defeat, Mike captures the excitement of the moment with this painted buffalo robe.
Mike starts with a commercially tanned buffalo robe with hair on. He prepares the hide and then free hand paints the imagery with acrylic paints. Mike finishes the decoration of the hide with abalone shells with leather dangles. The piece is signed by the artist.
