Description
A military standard was also sometimes called a flag staff. The Plains Indians denoted acts of bravery with earning feathers, a military standard, with all of its hanging feathers, denoted the brave deeds of many warriors and not just one.
Created by non-Native American artist Dan Chapman, this standard features a blue wool cloth drop. The drop is decorated with imitation eagle feathers. Each feather is wrapped with blue wool cloth. The ends are further adorned with rabbit fur and horse hair dangle. The wool cloth also features aged brass spots with leather dangles. The end of the lance features an aged, cold forged iron lance tip to help secure the standard to the ground. Width is measured from the top of the lance shaft to the bottom of the horse hair dangle.
