American Indian artist Emilie Ravenshead creates a beautiful late 1800's style mirror bag, mirrors were a sought after item for trade with the Plains Indians and they would make these lovely bags to hold their mirrors.
Emilie is a very talented Lakota artist, she brain tanned the deer hide and smoked it. Her grandfather lives in Europe so he collects the best old stock glass Italian beads for her and with her father's guidance and mother she has become a spectacular beadwork artist. This piece is sewn with real sinew and is a sterling example of timeless beadwork styles still used by the Plains Indians today. The piece is signed by the artist.
