View Full Product Info

This ink drawing entitled,"Kimimila Winyan," meaning "Butterfly Woman," in Lakota, was drawn by Evans Flammond, Sr. of the Rosebud Sioux tribe. The medium is an antique Homestake Mining Co. share certificate dated 1947. In an interesting paradox with this particular piece, it was the discovery of gold in the Black Hills in 1874 that brought the U.S. Army to the region in violation of the treaty of Ft. Laramie of 1868.
