Native American Made: Brass Pipe Axe w Glass Beads
Native American artist Mike McLeod, Bad River Band Chippewa, creates a time period piece using a brass pipe axe head. This type of item was traded or given to various Native Americans, they would then decorate the item to make it more personalized.
Mike attaches the brass head to a wooden shaft. The wooden shaft is stained and wrapped with glass beads. He finalizes the decoration of the piece with pieces of buffalo fur and wrapped imitation red tail hawk feathers.
