Description
Native American artist Jim Little Wounded, Mnicoujou Lakota, hand paints a hand drum with the image of a soaring Thunderbird, he attaches a carved and beaded bird head to create the emerging effect.
Jim uses acrylic paint and glass beads. Jim carves the bird head from wood and covers it with glass beads and a spray of feathers, leather fringe and glass beads.
Jim completes the decoration of the drum with a carved drum beater with a soft leather head and wrapped glass beads.
The drum body is made by non-Native American drum maker Wayne Manthey.
