Native American Hand Made Two Cover Shield w War Bonnet Design
Native American artist Jim Little Wounded (Minneconjou Lakota) created this two cover shield. The soft leather cover is stretched over a rawhide disc.
Jim free hand paints the soft leather cover with stain and acrylic paints. He adds leather dangles on one side of the painted design and leather dangles with glass beads and metal bells on the other side.
Jim adds horse hair and wrapped imitation feathers down the center of the shield, he has draped a strip of wool cloth down one side. He finishes the shield with a glass beaded buffalo amulet.
The piece is signed by the artist.
