Native American Hand Beaded Pipe Bag w Brain Tanned Hides
Created by Native American artist Thomas Ridley (Ute Mountain Ute Tribe of Colorado), he uses brain tanned deer hides to make the body and fringe for the pipe bag.
Thomas has also stained the hides with natural earth pigments before adding his beadwork designs. The seams at the top of the bag are beaded with a single row of glass beads. He completes the decoration with metal spots, metal beads with cones and dyed red horse hair.
Thomas leaves the fringe natural and then creates a tie closure at the top. The actual bag measurement without fringe is 19 inches long by 6.5 inches across.
Length 32 | Width 6.5 | Deep .5 inches
Length includes the fringe.
All measurements are approximate.
