Paper Sculpture: Pride of the Prairie I
"Pride of the Prairie I," cast paper sculpture by Allen Eckman depicts a Native American chief on horseback. He wears an eagle feather headdress and large bear claw necklace and is holding his coup lance while looking back over his shoulder.
Allen's wife, Patty Eckman also sculpts in paper and created a companion piece to this which is of the chief's wife and child who are following him on their own horse. The paper that the Eckmans use is their own recipe of archival paper and both Allen and Patty Eckman are masters of their sculpting process, creating extremely detailed pieces that are encased in custom-made acrylic display boxes to protect the paper.
