This shirt is quilled with dyed porcupine quills in the wrapped style. The bib of the shirt features the quill plaited style. The quills are dyed with cloth dye.
The quillwork is attached to strips of brain tanned leather. The leather even shows the scrape marks from the hide being prepared and then a boiled substance of brain is rubbed into the hide to make a soft supple leather.
The sides of the shirt is open so that ties can be added if needed. The cuffs of each sleeve are only sewn together at about a 6 inch length. The measurement for the sleeve (from the shoulder to the end of the sleeve) is approximately 24 inches. The chest measures approximately 21 inches. The center or front center of the shirt measures 27 1/2 inches long from the collar to the bottom of the shirt.
Chris has also painted stars on the front and back of each sleeve. He used watercolor for the paint.
