Description

Painted by Non-Native American artist Dan Chapman. The American Indians of the Northern Plains hand painted buffalo skulls to pay homage to their tribal beliefs. This War Bonnet design is found all across "Indian Country" and was commonly used for a man's robe.

The stylized imagery is representative of the familiar warbonnet style headdress when viewed from behind. The black and white colors together represent the eagle feathers used in the construction of the warbonnets. This design was typically accompanied by other drawings to make a war record by recording one's exploits in battle. Buffalo fur and leather wraps are attached to each horn base, and the horn covers are polished. Note: Dimensions are approximate, as with all things by Mother Nature, Buffalo and Buffalo skulls come in a variety of sizes. The skulls in our gallery are all real and have been reinforced in delicate places, specially treated to preserve them, and ready to hang.

Dimensions: Height 26 | Width 26 | Deep 13 (inches).
All Measurements are approximate.
